Port guide - Beaulieu-sur-Mer

This beautiful Mediterranean seaport was once a Greek settlement known as Anao. In the 3rd century, war left the village in ruins, but it was soon resettled and a monastery was built that lasted until the 6th century, when it was destroyed by the Lombards. The residents of the village fled to the safety of the surrounding hills at Montolivo (today Plateau Saint-Michel), but you can still see strong influences from this fascinating history in the architecture that remains.

Toward the end of the 19th century, the Côte d'Azur developed into a world destination for the wealthy, and Beaulieu-sur-Mer became a favourite residence for European royalty and rich Americans.Just 10 minutes from Monaco, it is also the gateway to St.Jean Cap Ferrat, which provides a superb anchorage for visiting superyachts all the year round.
